On June 21st we are honoring Josie’s life and raising awareness about HDFN for her second heavenly birthday. Blood donation is a lifeline for those affected by HDFN. It represents far more than an act of kindness\, it represents life and hope for families like Josie’s. \n\n\n\nYou Can be Part of The Solution!Josie’s story underscores the urgency of blood donation and the impact of undiagnosed HDFN. AHF offers patient counsel\, provider education\, global speaking engagements\, and access to care for HDFN in underdeveloped countries. \n\n\n\nWhy Blood Donation is Crucial for Alloimmunization and HDFN:Some pregnant mothers develop antibodies after being exposed to a blood type that is different from their own\, a condition called maternal red cell alloimmunization. The mother’s antibodies can attack her baby’s blood during pregnancy\, leading to a condition called hemolytic disease of the fetus and newborn (HDFN). Babies affected by HDFN can become anemic and require multiple blood transfusions both in utero and after birth. Some babies with severe disease may need intrauterine blood transfusions as early as 15 weeks gestation. Without these blood transfusions they face severe anemia and eventually death and it is estimated that 160\,000 babies die annually from HDFN. With influences from the likes of Van Halen\, Ted Nugent\, and Stevie Ray Vaughn\, to high energy vocals that take you back to the 80’s rock scene. Nick & The Knacks is\, Nick Ridgely on vocals/RG\, Anthony “Tones” Cappolino on lead Guitar\, Jimmi Botsford on Bass/BGV\, and Michael Foreman on drums.\n \nREMINDER: Free admission & free parking. No coolers\, outside food\, outside alcoholic beverages\, cans\, glass bottles\, or smoking allowed. Friendly dogs on-leash are welcome! BYO lawn chairs or blankets to sit on.
